Honey FAQ

There’s a lot of confusing information out there about honey. Hopefully these questions and answers will help clear that up.

Is Your Honey Raw?

Most store-bought honey is pasteurized. That means it’s been heated to around 150° for 30 minutes or longer in order to destroy any yeast in the honey and extend its shelf life.

We do not pasteurize our honey, though it is gently heated during the colder months so the honey can be filtered.

Is Your Honey Filtered?

Unfiltered honey straight out of the hive often contains pollen, bits of honeycomb and beeswax as well as various bee parts. We minimally filter the honey with a centrifuge in order to remove these bits and pieces.

If you are buying in bulk and want those bits left in, please let us know and we will try and accommodate you.

Do You Sell Local Idaho Honey?

We have both local and mixed honey available. While many of our bees live right here in Idaho, we also have hives in other western states. We set aside honey from our local bees and also sell a blended honey from all of our bees. Just let us know which one you’d like.
